Our Winter Concert is SATURDAY, JANUARY 17th, at 7pm
at Congregation Beth Elohim, Garfield Place and 8th Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Featuring music of Handel, Stanford, Rutter, Di Lasso, Victoria, Hogan, and Willie Nelson!
Our first rehearsal of the Spring semester is WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21st, at 7:30pm at the Old First Church on 7th Ave and Carroll Street (enter on Carroll). New singers are welcome for the first TWO rehearsals. No auditions are necessary for the regular group. If you are interested in the smaller, audition-based chamber group (rehearses from 9:30-10:00pm after regular rehearsal), please click here for more information.
Chorus members are expected to attend all Wednesday rehearsals, the occasional Saturday rehearsal, as well as commit to the final performance each semester. Dues of $100/semester are requested from every singer to help with rent, music, directors, accompanists, and concert expenses. Scholarships are available for those who cannot afford the $100 dues.
The Brooklyn Community Chorus is an independent community choir in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It is open to anyone who loves to sing a variety of music, both sacred and secular, classical and popular, historic and contemporary. All ages are welcome; no auditions are needed.
We draw our conductors and soloists from within the chorus and from the local community. Our choice of repertoire is often determined by popular consent of the group rather than imposed by a single music director.
It is this spirit of democratic community that makes the Brooklyn Community Chorus unique, and a truly community organization.
If you are interested in getting notifications about upcoming semesters or performances, please join our email list on the right hand side of the page. If you have any additional questions about the BCC, feel free and email one of our conductors, Steve Coburn.
